Knowledge Stations

TRAINING & OFFERED SERVICES
The main aim of the training is sustainability of the skills in IT. To ensure continuous training, the NITC proposes a training course for trainers. Other training courses should be tailored towards specific group needs. For example, searching the web for information on farming or carpentry. All in all, IT training at the Knowledge Stations would fulfill the following aims:
  • - Community service development
  • - Lessen the digital divide between the city and the rural community
  • - Empower the rural community with IT know-how
  • - Facilitate access of information to rural areas
  • - Facilitate democratization of remote societies
  • - Increase knowledge and awareness in the National Information System (NIS)
  • - Improve professional skills
  • - Increase usage of the Internet and its facilities
In adopting a tailored approach, aimed at harmonizing the tasks of the KSs with the communities basic needs and pursuits, the Knowledge Stations have classified their activities under different inter – linked categories:
  • - ICT capacity building and skill enhancement
  • - Community development and awareness services
  • - E-Learning activities (English Language)
  • - Medical Journals can be accessed from the Centers (Hinary medical journals)
  • - Women’s Empowerment
In the Field of ICT capacity building and skill enhancement, all citizens, through the Knowledge Stations, are ensured the basic infrastructure facilities such as personal computers, printers, Internet access, electronic Libraries which are supported by tailored training courses in basic computer literacy and database management, and seven modules of International Computer Driving License (ICDL) certification and other customized courses that directly address the communities needs.

Leveraging the tools of ICT as means for enhancing the social and economic stature of the communities, community development and awareness services were complementarily incorporated within the KS agenda. These services aim to familiarize the local communities with the innovation and knowledgeable avenues ICT integration, actively participating in the e-government initiative, expanding their general knowledge and understanding of various social issues and most importantly acquiring pioneering and inventive development skills.

With every KS connected to the National Information Technology Center’s nation wide network, local communities are provided with the opportunity of exchanging information and sharing their experiences and knowledge in various areas such as health, education, environment, and livelihood, through the virtual medium of communication.

The Continued expansion and success of the KSs will undoubtedly have a profound impact on enhancing the awareness and cooperation of all segments of the Jordanian society towards developing and modernizing the national economy.
